Clear glass globes include rubber sealing gasket and finished wood bases.

They are easy to assemble. Just glue figures to the base, then add water and glitter(with a couple drops of glycerin to help the glitter settle). Use silicone glue to seal the base of the globe, then attach it to the wooden base. There you have it! Your very own snow globe!!

IMPORTANT: Due to the variety of materials available for snow globe decoration we recommend testing figurines etc, for water compatibility before sealing globe. Some pieces can be sealed with lacquer to make them waterproof.

A Musical Note: You can also add a musical movement to the base of the globe!




Directions for Making Your Own Snow Globe!!

Materials:
Snow Globe with a rubber gasket and base
Small Waterproof Ornaments, Figures or Decorations
Distilled Water or Water that has been boiled and cooled
Clear Silicone Sealant (Aquarium Sealant) or Florist Clay
Glitter/Snow
Glycerin or Mineral Oil

1. Plan your Snow Globe Scene - Search your home craft supplies for materials and inspiration. You can make people, animals, trees - you name it - from craft foam or Sculpey. Also consider miniatures at the craft or hobby store. Make sure your pieces are waterproof. You can seal some products with clear spray gloss. Always test items in water before sealing up the snow globe!

2. Secure the Waterproof Figures and Decorations on the rubber gasket with silicone sealant or florist clay. In order to elevate the scene so it is in clear view, build up the area with a little extra silicone glue or florist clay. Set aside to dry.

3. Prepare Your "Snow". Finer particles will fall more slowly in the snow globe and have a more pleasing effect. Kit Kraft has many different kinds of “snow” glitter to add an interesting element to your creation. The possibilities are endless and ensure that you are creating a one-of-a-kind snow globe!

4. Fill the Snow Globe - When you are pleased with your snow globe scene, fill the jar with distilled water, leaving a little space at the top to accommodate the figures. Add several drops of glycerin to keep the snow suspended and floating properly. Mineral oil or baby oil can also be used in place of the water and glycerin.

5. Add Snow and Glitter - When adding glitter, make sure you have enough to cover the bottom once it has settled. A good guide is to use one teaspoon of glitter for every inch of water. If you’re adventurous, experiment with different effects. Use a drop or two of colored lamp oil to create a swirling effect. Add food coloring to the water or use different colored glitters.

6. Seal the Dome - When you’re sure the figures and scenery are arranged to your satisfaction, and the snow to water ratio looks good, CAREFULLY press the rubber gasket into the glass jar. The raised ring on the edge of the gasket must fit into groove in the neck of the globe. IMPORTANT: The gasket is designed to fit tight to prevent leakage. Do NOT press down hard when trying to install it as you may break your glass. Lubricate the edge of the gasket with a film of bar soap, silicone or other suitable lubricant. Work it down by pressing the edge in as well as down and work slowly around the edge a bit at a time. Also, support the glass with a bed of sand or bubble wrap, shredded paper or other suitable material to prevent possible breakage. Another suggestion is to assemble the globe dry and then add water at the end. First, add the glitter. Then add the gasket following the instructions above. When the gasket is in place pull a small edge of the gasket away from the neck of the globe and fill the globe with water. Let any excess water dry completely from the edge of gasket and globe. Then seal edge where gasket and globe are joined with silicone adhesive. Once dry, secure globe to base with silicone adhesive.
