To use a glass cutter (if you don't already know how), get a sturdy steel straight-edge or strong edge at which to guide your cut. Roll the cutter wheel over the desired cutting line a few times over. Then turn the tool over to the rounded brass end, and lightly tap over the line many times to weaken the bond until it finally breaks free. viola!
As a tip: the deeper the scoring cut, the cleaner the cut will be. so be sure to run the cutting wheel over the line about 3-6 times or until you feel it's ready. It takes some practice, so don't expect to get a perfect split the first time.
Using oil make s a world of difference, and makes the tool last exponentially longer.
